Pune – The Cosmopolitan Capital of India

Pune, often referred to as the “Oxford of the east”, is one of the top cities in the country to live in. It is also called the Cultural Capital of India as it is home to people of different cultures, bringing in a lot of cultural diversity. The city is located in the western end of the Deccan plateau, hence called the “Deccan Queen”. It is also talked about for its beautiful weather all over the country, which ranges between 15-35 degree centigrade throughout the year.

Pune is one of the faster growing cities in the country, not only in terms of infrastructure and development, but also as a tourist destination and with respect to education. The city holds the record for having the highest number of Engineering colleges in a given city. Koregaon Park, one of the poshest areas in the city is house to a lot of Europeans. Many working professionals are making Pune their first choice when it comes to choosing cities or settling down, which is why it is emerging as the new Cosmopolitan city of the country. All these factors have been instrumental in increasing real estate prices in the city, while the country is facing a slowdown in real estate.

The growing popularity of the city can also be explained by the increasing number of job opportunities it presents to people, especially the youth. Pune has the highest number of Public sector and Government organizations in the city. It also enjoys the privilege of having the most number of IT companies in the country, even more than Bangalore, which results in the city enjoying the highest per capita income.

Studies suggest that Pune has been ranked the 2nd best city to live in, in the country, providing the best quality of life by offering a perfect balance between a fast paced metro city and a small city. One key highlight of the city is the OSHO Commune International, which is one of the most coveted organizations for meditation, and a must visit if you come to Pune. It is located in the outskirts of Koregaon Park, another instrumental factor in westernizing Pune, as it attracts a lot of people from other countries.

Since the opening of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, life has changed for the residents of Pune in terms of comforts and opportunities. It has considerably reduced the travel time between Pune and Mumbai and made transport and professional lives easier.
Pune has been showing the highest record of growth in the last one or two decades. The expansion and growth Pune has witnessed has also lead to rise in real estate prices in the city as the aspirational factor of living in one of the best city has increased.
